Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions, the rental document signed by you, and a return record with computed rental charges together constitute the rental agreement between yourself and LEO CAR S.A.L., identified on the rental document “LEO CAR” or “we” or “us”.

  1. Meaning of Car

The word “car” means the vehicle rented to you or its replacement and includes tires, tools, equipment, accessories, plates, and documents, unless otherwise explicitly specified in this rental agreement.

  1. Rental Rates

You will pay for the number of kilometers you drive and the period of time you rent the car at the rate indicated on the rental document, or your applicable corporate rate. The minimum charge is one day (24 hours), unless “calendar day” is indicated on the rental document, plus mileage fee, if applicable. The daily charge applies to consecutive 24-hour periods starting at the hour and minute the rental begins or, if a calendar day is specified on the rental document, each consecutive calendar day or any part of a calendar day starting on the calendar day on which the rental occurs. The renter will be charged for each hour and/or any part of an hour in excess of a rental day the renter keeps the vehicle, until the vehicle is returned, up to the applicable daily rate. Mileage charges, if applicable, will be the number of kilometers driven as determined by the odometer readings at the beginning and end of the rental. For rental between 1 and 3 days, 150 Km per day are included in the base rental price. Any additional kilometer consumed will result in an extra mileage fee (For more details see our price list). Unlimited mileage for rental of 4 days and above. 

You’ll pay all charges that apply to the rental for miscellaneous services and, where permitted, airport facility fees and/or concession recovery fees, vehicle license recovery fees, other fees and surcharges. 

  1. You will pay a reasonable fee for cleaning the car’s interior upon return for excessive stains, dirt or spoilage attributable to your use as determined solely by us. 

  2. If key(s) are not returned with the vehicle, you may be charged an additional fee. 

  3. We maintain a non-smoking fleet. You will pay an additional charge of 200$ if you return the car and it smells of smoke. In addition, you agree to pay the cost of fixing any damage caused to the vehicle interior.

  4. You and any third party to whom any rental charges are billed, such as an insurer or employer, are jointly and severally responsible for payment of all such charges. If you direct us to bill any such charges to a third party, you represent that you are authorized to do so.

The rental rate is subject to increase if you return the car more than 24 hours before or 24 hours after the scheduled return time.  Late returns beyond 30 minute grace period may be subject to extra hour and/or extra day charges, in addition to any other rental charges. If the renter fails to comply with the conditions applicable to the rate, including any geographic driving restrictions, a mileage charge, surcharge or other rates may apply.

  1. Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be made by e-mail to [email protected] . Free cancellation of your booking up to 24 hours before the rental starts. Within the last 24 hours prior to the rental, you will be charged with 1 day rental. In case of no-show, you will be charged 2 days rental. What is a no-show? A no-show occurs for the following reasons:

    1. You didn't inform us about your cancellation prior to your pick up date.

    2. You failed to pick up the car at the arranged time and date.

    3. You failed to provide the required documents at your pick up date.

  1. Return of the Car

You agree to return the car to us in the same condition you received it, ordinary wear and tear excepted, on the date, at the time, and to the location specified in the rental document. You must return it sooner on our demand. If you return it earlier or later, a different or higher rate may apply and, if returned later, you may also be charged a late return fee. You may not return the car at a time when we are closed. If you do, your responsibility for damage to or loss of the car will continue and all charges stated on the rental document as a periodic rate will continue to accrue until the return location reopens and we retake actual possession of the car. If we do not find the car when that location reopens, your responsibility for all charges and for damage to or loss of the car will continue until the car is actually returned or recovered. If you wish to extend any rental you must contact us to request it before your return date. We may or may not grant an extension or decline to grant it for the entire period you request, in our sole discretion. If we do grant an extension a different or higher rate may be applied to the extension period and a service fee may also apply.

  1. Where You’ll Return the Car 

The car must be returned to the agreed return location as specified on the rental document. If return is indicated to a location other than the location where your rental commences, you may have to pay a “one way service fee.” If you return the car to a different location from the agreed return location without our permission, you agree to pay the “Unauthorized return location fee” specified by us.

  1. Taxes

You’ll also pay all applicable taxes as well as any additional charges provided on the rental agreement which are over and above the base rental rate. The 11% VAT tax is not included in the base rental price. Taxes are subject to change without prior notice.

  1. Authorized Drivers

LEO CAR’s vehicle may be driven only by an authorized driver. An authorized driver is the renter and any additional person who appears at the time of rental, and signs the rental agreement. All authorized drivers must satisfy our age requirements, have a valid driver's license, provide a physical street resident address and present at least one major credit card in their own name. Employers and co-employees of renters renting on corporate rate plans, if properly licensed and meet our age requirements, are authorized to drive the vehicle while acting within the scope of their employment duties. No other persons are authorized to drive the vehicle.

You agree that we have the right to verify that your license has been validly issued and is in good standing; and that we may in our sole discretion refuse to rent to you if your license has been suspended, revoked, otherwise restricted in any way. We reserve the right to deny rentals based upon information about your license status or driving record provided by the Motor Vehicle Department of the jurisdiction that issued your license or any other reliable source in the business of validating an identity. All drivers must have a valid Lebanese driving license or an international driving license along with the original local driving license for foreigners. Drivers holding a valid foreign driving license without an international driving license will be forbidden to drive LEO CAR’s vehicle.

  1. Additional Authorized Drivers and Fees

All additional authorized drivers are required to qualify to drive the vehicle. To qualify, LEO CAR requires all additional drivers, including spouses, to satisfy our minimum age requirements, have a valid driver’s license, and pay an additional driver fee of 8 USD per day per additional driver with a maximum of 2 additional drivers per rental.  

  1. Driving Age

The age of the driver is considered to be his age at the date of beginning of rental. The minimum age to rent a vehicle at LEO CAR is 21 years of age. Drivers between 21 and 25 years old, must pay a young driver surcharge of $15 per day. Driver must be 25 years old with a minimum of 2 years driving experience to rent a car from standard to premium. Driver must be 27 years old with a minimum of 4 years driving experience to rent a car from Premium SUV and up. No young drivers are authorized to drive the latter categories.

  1. Roadside Assistance

24/7 Roadside assistance is available to all renters. It covers any car break down not caused by a misuse of the vehicle or a negligence from the driver. You may purchase added protection under Extended Roadside Assistance at a price of USD 8 per day, to cover potential costs associated with lockouts, flat tires, towing (if the car becomes inoperable), jump starts, emergency fuel delivery (up to 3 gallons). If you do not purchase the Extended Roadside Assistance in advance, you may incur added costs for providing the above referenced services.

  1. Form of Payments

We accept payments in cash US Dollar or Lebanese Pound and all major credit/debit cards (Visa, Master and American Express). We do not accept checks or traveler checks. Full payment of the total rental cost including extras and taxes is due to be settled at the beginning of the rental period. 

The guarantee deposit can only be settled by credit/debit card at the name of the renter. The minimum charge for a security deposit is 300 US dollars. This amount will rise with the value of the rented vehicle. We do not accept cash for security deposits. We only accept credit card pre-authorization. For some high value vehicles, we require a pre-authorization on 2 different credit cards (both have to be at the name of the renter). The blocked amount will be returned to the renter’s credit card within 30 days after the end of the rental. Should you not possess a credit card, we offer you the possibility of settling the security deposit via bank transfer. You will be requested to send us a copy of the bank transfer receipt 5 days prior to the beginning of your rental. This amount will be refunded to your bank account via bank transfer within 30 days after the end of the rental.

  1. Card Reserve

You acknowledge that you have been informed that if you use a charge card, your credit, up to an amount of the estimated total charges due under this Agreement, as indicated on the rental document, based on your representation about this rental, may be set aside or reserved by the card issuer of the card, which you present for payment of your rental charges; or, if you use a debit card funds in the account to which that card is linked may be set aside for the greater of the amount of the estimated total charges due under this Agreement, based on your representation about this rental, as indicated on the rental document or the deposit amount indicated on signs at the location at which you rent at the time of rental. You consent to the reservation or setting aside of that estimated total amount at the time of commencement of the rental. You understand that we will authorize the release of any excess reserve or set aside upon the completion of your rental, and that your card issuer’s rules apply to your credit line or your account being credited for such excess and may not be immediately released by your card issuer.

  1. Repossessing the Car

We can repossess the car at any time in our sole discretion for reasons that include, but are not limited to the following: it is found illegally parked, being used to violate the law or the terms of this agreement, or appears to be abandoned. You agree that we do not need to notify you in advance. If the car is repossessed, you agree to pay the actual and reasonable costs incurred by us to repossess the car. You agree that such costs will be charged to the card you used to rent the car.

  1. Prohibited Use of the Car


It is a violation of this paragraph if: 

  1. You use or permit the car to be used: 1) by anyone other than an authorized driver, as defined in paragraph 7; 2) to carry passengers or property for hire; 3) to tow or push anything; 4) to be operated in a test, race or contest, or on unpaved roads; 5) while the driver is under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance; 6) for conduct that could be charged as a crime such as a felony or misdemeanor, including the transportation of a controlled substances or contraband; 7) recklessly or while overloaded; or 8) if the car is driven outside the Lebanese territory.

  1. You or an additional driver, authorized or not: 1) fail to promptly report any damage to or loss of the car when it occurs, or when you learn of it and provide us with a written accident/incident report or fail to cooperate with our investigation; 2) Where required by law, failed to report an accident to law enforcement; 3) obtained the car through fraud or misrepresentation; 4) leave the car and fail to remove the keys or close and lock all doors, close all windows and the trunk and the car is stolen or vandalized; 5) intentionally or with willful disregard cause or allow damage to the car, or 6) return the car after hours and the car is damaged, stolen or vandalized or otherwise failed to take reasonable steps to secure the vehicle, its keys or other remote entry and starting devices. 

  1. Driving or operating this car while using a hand-held wireless communication device or other device that is capable of receiving or transmitting telephonic communications, electronic data, mail or text messages shall be deemed a breach of this contract.

  1. Fines, Expenses, Costs and Administrative Fees 

You’ll pay all fines, penalties and court costs for parking, traffic, toll and other violations, including storage liens and charges. You will also pay a reasonable administrative fee with respect to any violation of this agreement, such as for repossessing or recovering the car for any reason. 

You agree we may, in our sole discretion, pay all tickets, citations, fines and penalties on your behalf directly to the appropriate authority and you will pay us for what we paid to the appropriate authority or their designated agents plus a reasonable administrative fee. You agree and acknowledge that we cooperate with all federal, state, municipal and local officials charged with enforcing these infractions to provide any information necessary as they may request or may otherwise be required. 

You authorize us to release the rental and credit/debit card information regarding your rental for processing and billing you any tickets, citations, fines and penalties incurred by you or assessed against us or the vehicle during your rental plus a reasonable administrative fee not to exceed $50 per violation. You authorize us to bill you directly to the credit/debit card you used to rent the vehicle. You authorize us to contact you directly regarding any tickets, citations, fines and penalties incurred by you or assessed against us or to our vehicle while the vehicle was rented to you. In the event, we use a third-party collection and or administrative agent to resolve any tickets, citations, fines and penalties, you agree to pay all costs and collection fees including but not limited to administrative and legal costs to such agent upon demand without protest. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless for any tickets, citations, fines, penalties and administrative fees.

  1. Fuel Policy

Most rentals come with a full tank of fuel, but that is not always the case. The renter must refill the gas tank of the vehicle and present a fuel receipt to avoid a refueling charge unless the renter chooses the prepaid fuel option. If the renter chooses the prepaid fuel option, the renter will pay a specified charge as set forth in the rental agreement and have no obligation to return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel. If you do not accept the fuel prepaid option, at the beginning of your rental, and you return the car with less fuel than was in it when you received it, we will charge you a fuel service charge at the applicable rate per-mile or per-gallon rate applicable at the time of the rental. The fuel charge is based on the estimated number of gallons needed to refill the tank multiplied by the rate per gallon charge specified on the rental agreement plus a re-fueling service surcharge, but you will only pay for the liters of fuel difference. LEO CAR may use different methods of estimating the number of gallons needed to refill the tank and these methods of estimation necessarily rely on human judgment. Most LEO CAR locations estimate the number of gallons needed to refill the gas tank either (1) by reading the fuel gauge to estimate the approximate amount of fuel needed to refill the tank (for example, one-half tank) and multiplying that number by the manufacturer's specified fuel tank capacity, or (2) if the renter did not purchase any fuel during the rental, by reading the odometer to determine the amount of miles driven during the rental and dividing that number by the vehicle's estimated fuel efficiency (miles per gallon) based on the manufacturer's fuel efficiency specifications. You may avoid a fuel service charge if you return the car with the fuel tank as full as when you received it and, if requested by us, present a receipt for your fuel purchase. If the vehicle is returned with more fuel than at the beginning of the rental, we do not refund you for any extra liter of fuel.

  1. Geographic Limitations

Driving is strictly restricted to the Lebanese territory only. 

  1. Optional Equipment

  1. Child Safety Seats: For an additional charge of 5.55 USD per day infant toddler, and child/youth safety seats are available.

  2. Ski Chains: Snow chains are not compulsory during winter seasons but are available to rent. They can be reserved with your rental car via our website. There is an additional daily charge of 6.66 USD per snow chain set.

  3. Global Positioning System: We offer GPS for use during the rental for an additional 11.1 USD per day. 

  4. Mobile Wifi: Available to book for an additional charge of USD 10 per day, mobile wifi offers unlimited* wireless internet access for laptops, smartphones, tablets and other Wi-Fi enabled devices. Being connected to the internet is an essential part of everyday life; whether it’s to check email, update your social networks or to upload your holiday snaps. Today, being free to access the web when you're away from home is a must. Now you can have the freedom of mobile connectivity without the fear of exorbitant roaming data charges or restrictive fixed Wi-Fi hotspots!

* Fair usage policy applies: 1GB of data per day 

  1. Change Fees 

In order to ensure that your car is ready and waiting for you, LEO CAR has introduced Change Fees that will reduce last-minute disruptions to our vehicle planning.

  1. Early Return Fee: Applies if you did not prepay your rental charges and returned the vehicle more than 24 hours early before the return time indicated in your rental agreement. You will only pay for the days used, but there will be a $25 charge to partially compensate us for our inability to rent your vehicle during the remaining time reserved for your use. 


  1. Late Return Fee: In addition to charging additional rental days for a late return, we reserve the right to charge $16 per day  to compensate us in part for the costs we incur in finding an alternative vehicle to satisfy our next booking for your vehicle.

  1. Lost and Found: 

LEO CAR will not uphold responsibility for any personal belongings left in the vehicle or within the location premises. If you have lost items, please contact our customer service as soon as possible by email at [email protected] or by phone.

  1. Liability, Insurance and Optional Protection Packages 

Insurance only covers the vehicle within the Lebanese Territories. It is forbidden to drive the LEO CAR vehicle outside the Lebanese borders. Insurance doesn’t cover accidents in case of violation of the Lebanese of the traffic law. In this case, the client will bear full responsibility for the accident, both legally and financially. War invasion, hold-up, and natural disasters are not covered by the insurance. Lost or damaged items in the vehicle or attached to the vehicle are not covered by insurance and will be the driver's direct responsibility (For example, but not limited to: Baggage, Antenna, Mirrors, Tires, Car Key, Car Documents, Triangle, Extinguisher, etc.). Insurance does not cover the excess amount of 222 USD for each airbag kit. Damages or breakdowns caused by negligence or misuse are not covered by the insurance policy and will be the driver's responsibility. Blown tires and vehicle interior are the driver’s responsibility and are not covered by the insurance policy.

  1. Loss or Damage to the LEO CAR vehicle

The renter and any additional drivers are absolutely liable for any loss or damage to the rental vehicle, even if someone else caused it or the cause is unknown, whether due to theft, fire, hail, flood, collision, vandalism, or any other cause, subject to limitations imposed by the law where the vehicle is rented. This liability will not exceed the full value of the vehicle, plus:

  • Actual towing and storage charges;
  • Loss of use;
  • Diminution in value, regardless of whether the vehicle is repaired or not;
  • All rental charges through the date you report the incident if not returnable or the return date, whichever is later;
  • Any out-of-pocket expenses incurred by us as a result of the loss or damage to the vehicle;
  • A reasonable administrative fee;
  • Pro-rata license plate fees, all as allowed by law.

            2. Third Party Liability Claim

    Unless otherwise required by applicable law, a renter and/or any additional authorized driver (and the respective insurance company of each) is primarily responsible for all third party claims of personal injury, including death, and property damage caused or arising from the use and operation of the LEO CAR vehicle during the rental. You agree to indemnify and hold LEO CAR harmless from and against, and will defend LEO CAR against all loss, liability or damages whatsoever arising out of the use or operation of the vehicle during the rental, plus costs and attorneys’ fees. (To the extent LEO CAR is required to provide coverage, in spite of the terms of the rental agreement, it shall only be in an amount necessary to satisfy the minimum financial responsibility limits required by applicable law.)

      1. Optional Protection Package 

    At the time of rental, LEO CAR offers for purchase at the option of the renter, different protection packages. It is possible for the renter to customize the protection he wants to acquire. He may choose among the following products: Collision Damage Waiver ("CDW"), Super Collision Damage Waiver ("SCDW"), Loss Damage Waiver ("LDW"), Personal Accident Insurance ("PAI"). The cost, coverage, provider and availability vary by location, vehicle category and rate. Please refer to our Price List. The optional products offered by the rental company may duplicate coverage provided by the renter's personal automobile insurance or insurance the renter may have through another source. Purchase of optional products is not required to rent the vehicle. Separate brochures available at the rental location summarize the optional products. We charge a per day fee for each day, or part of a day, the vehicle is rented for any optional products you select.

    • Collision Damage Waiver ("CDW"):

    Also referred to as Partial damage Waiver or Collision Damage Waiver ("CDW"). If the renter purchases one of the optional CDW plans, LEO CAR will agree to partially waive the renter's responsibility for any partial damage to the vehicle. CDW is not insurance or an insurance product. CDW does not apply if: (1) the renter uses the vehicle in violation of the rental agreement or the Lebanese the traffic laws; (2) the renter fails to notify us and the police immediately after the damage; and (3) the renter fails to pay the charges under the rental agreement; or (4) other exceptions as allowed by the applicable state or provincial law. The purchase of CDW is not mandatory.

    • Super Collision Damage Waiver ("SCDW"):

    If the renter purchases one of the optional Super Collision Damage Waiver ("SCDW")  plans, LEO CAR will agree to waive the renter's responsibility for any partial damage to the vehicle in full or in part. SCDW is not insurance or an insurance product. SCDW does not apply if: (1) the renter uses the vehicle in violation of the rental agreement or the Lebanese the traffic laws; (2) the renter fails to notify us and the police immediately after the damage; and (3) the renter fails to pay the charges under the rental agreement; or (4) other exceptions as allowed by the applicable state or provincial law. The purchase of SCDW is not mandatory. 

    • Loss Damage Waiver ("LDW"):

    If the renter purchases one of the optional LDW plans, LEO CAR will agree to waive the renter's responsibility for loss of the vehicle in full or in part (depending on the LDW plan accepted). LDW is not insurance or an insurance product. LDW does not apply if: (1) the renter uses the vehicle in violation of the rental agreement or the Lebanese the traffic laws; (2) the renter fails to remove the keys, or close and lock all windows, doors and trunk, and the vehicle is stolen or vandalized; (3) the renter fails to notify us and the police immediately after the loss; and (4) the renter fails to pay the charges under the rental agreement; or (5) other exceptions as allowed by the applicable state or provincial law. The purchase of LDW is not mandatory.

    • Personal Accident Insurance ("PAI") 

    PAI provides benefits to the renter and the renter's passengers for accidental medical expenses, ambulance expenses and accidental death benefits during the rental. If this optional coverage is purchased by a renter, the renter is covered twenty-four hours a day for all accidents, whether the renter is actually in the rental vehicle or not at the time of the accident. Passengers in a LEO CAR vehicle are only covered for accidents occurring while the passengers occupy the LEO CAR vehicle. PAI are included free of charge in all our protection packages.

    1. Use GPS Tracking Devices

    We use GPS tracking devices to track or locate cars which may be reported stolen, suspected of being stolen or as may be required by law enforcement, or to identify vehicles which have been damaged and may require roadside assistance, when we a good faith belief that there is an emergency that poses a threat to the safety of your or another person, or as necessary to defend, protect or enforce our rights in connection with the use of our products and/or services. In addition, if equipped and where permitted by law, the GPS device in the car, in connection with your smartphone, may also be used to process the rental including when your rental may start, when it may end, the fuel levels in the car and the mileage on the car.

    1. Error in Rental Charges 

    The charges shown on the return record are not final and are subject to review. You’ll pay any under charges and you’ll receive a refund for any overcharges we discover on review. 

    1. Collections 

    If you do not pay all amounts due to us under this Agreement upon demand, including all charges, fees, expenses, fines, penalties, and all matters associated with the rental of the vehicle including, without limitation, payment for loss of or damage to the car, rental charges, parking, red light and traffic fines and penalties, toll charges, towing, storage and impoundment fees, we will take the following actions: a) You agree to pay a late charge of 1 & 1/2% per month on the past due balance or the highest rate permitted by applicable law, whichever is less (collectively, “Charges”). b) You agree to also pay for any costs that we incur in seeking to collect such Charges including, without limitation, court costs and attorney’s fees in addition to any administrative fees, cost recovery, insufficient funds fees and collection fees (collectively, “Costs”). If the law permits, you authorize us and our collection agent, to contact you or your employer, at your place of business about the payment of any past due Charges or Costs. You also agree that we or our collection agent(s) may access the personal information that you provided to us in any effort to collect any Charges or Costs under this section and may use the address provided by you on the Rental Document, or in any customer profile, as the place to send any demands or collection notices. c) In the event that you presented a credit card or debit card for payment, you understand that we may report such deficiency to an appropriate credit reporting agency and you also authorize us to share that credit and debit card information with third party collection agents and further authorize us or our collection agents to charge any amounts due to us including, but not limited to, the Charges and Costs referenced above, to that credit or debit card.

    1. Car Pickup, Return and Delivery

    Vehicle pick up and return is available free of charge at our offices during working hours. A fee of USD 15 will be charged if you pick up or return the vehicle at our offices on Sundays and holidays or outside office hours. We also offer 24/7 car delivery at the location you desire. For deliveries inside Beirut, we will charge you a fee of USD 15 per way during office hours and USD 35 per way on Sundays and holidays or outside office hours. For deliveries outside Beirut, we will charge you a fee of USD 35 per way during office hours and USD 50 per way on Sundays and holidays or outside office hours. For deliveries at Beirut International Airport, we charge 15$ per rental for vehicle pick-up and drop-off. To avoid pick-up delays, we will deliver the vehicle at the airport in the car parking lot. The beginning of the rental is set to be the moment the vehicle leaves LEO CAR’s offices. Fuel expenses and mileage for delivery of the vehicle will be the client’s charge. The fuel amount and the mileage upon departure from LEO CAR premises will be the amounts considered and mentioned on the rental contract. 

    If you want to send a third party to pick up the car on your behalf, he/she should provide us with a signed written authorization letter and he should meet our authorized driver requirements.

    1. Replacement Vehicle

    In case of car break down not caused by a misuse of the vehicle or a negligence from the driver we will provide you with a replacement vehicle as soon as possible. If the breakdown is triggered by a misuse or a negligence from the driver we do not guarantee a replacement vehicle.

    1. Check-in Express

    For you to pick up your vehicle quickly and easily we offer a check-in express option. To take advantage of our check-in express service, you should email us, or upload into our system via our website, a few days prior to the beginning of the rental, clear copies of all authorized drivers passports, driving licenses and credit cards at the name of the main driver. Original documents should be presented to our staff upon car pick up.
